Journal Title: System Engineering and Productivity - Year 2023, Vol 2, Issue 4
Abstract
Today, in order to respond optimally to the many and diverse needs of customers and to succeed in their work, manufacturing and service organizations and companies are continuously trying to achieve their goals by utilizing quality management systems, including total quality management. All systems developed in the field of quality have focused their efforts on achieving strategic goals and competitive advantage. Our goal in this study is to examine the relationship between total quality management and competitive advantage in Tehran medical centers (public hospitals located in Region 1). The participants in this study were 44 managers of the departments of the hospitals under study. The standard competitive advantage questionnaire of Hill and Jones (2010) was used to evaluate the competitive advantage variable, and a researcher-made questionnaire was used for the comprehensive quality management variable. Data analysis was performed using statistical tests (Kolmogrov-Smirnov and Pearson correlation coefficient) in SPSS software. The results of statistical analysis showed that there is a significant relationship between hospital managers' data reporting and accountability, between the role of hospital managers' top management and the type of employee-hospital managers' relationship with efficiency, and between hospital managers' management process and innovation. Accordingly, we concluded that total quality management has a significant relationship with competitive advantage.
