Investigation Determinants of the continuance Adoption of the Canola crop

Abstract

After cereals, oil seeds are the second largest global food reserves. Undoubtedly, the oily seeds are Iran's agricultural products. Unfortunately, despite all efforts, Iran is still dependent on oil imports to meet your needs. Currently, the country's dependence on imported oil seeds is 82 percent. Unfortunately, the adoption of Canola by farmers in Kermanshah city is not in good condition. And adoption of Canola, much lower than had been forecast. The aim of this study was to investigation determinants of the continuous adoption of the Canola among farmers. Population of this study was farmers, the city of Kermanshah. The population consisted of three categories of farmers: adopters, nonadopters, and abandoners. Research samples was selected using randomly stratified method with using the Bartlett and others (2001), (for each group, n=106). The results of discriminant analysis showed that the variables of contact with extension agents, interest in canola cultivation and participating in extension classes as the most important factors distinguishing groups of farmers, which in total have been able to 69 percent of total respondents correctly classified based on their diagnostic functions.
