INVESTIGATION OF THE CHEMICAL CONVERSIONS OF SYNTHETIC LUBRICANT CONTAINING ECOLOGICAL ANTIWEAR ADDITIVE PROCEEDING UNDER FRICTION CONDITIONS

Journal Title: Tribologia - Year 2013, Vol 248, Issue 2

Abstract

Chemical conversions of PAO – and ester-based synthetic lubricants containing ecological antiwear additives of vegetable origin under different friction conditions were investigated. Rubbing tests were performed using a four-ball machine and ball-on-disk tester. Products of tribochemical reactions of the lubricants’ components have been investigated by gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry. It has been concluded that the chemical changes lead to the formation of a variety of compounds that influence the antiwear efficiency of the lubricants.
