Abstract

The article analyzes Ivan Franko folklore and ethnographic research in Pokuttуа. Attention is drawn to the collection of ancient songs, proverbs and contexts on the territory of the historical and ethnographic region that he used in his scientific research and artistic works. Partly published in the fundamental collection “Halyts’koho-Russkie prikazki”. The author states that I. Franko showed and encouraged his acquaintances from the local intelligentsia and educated and conscious peasants to ethnographic and folklore records and studies. A brief analysis of their work is given.
