Abstract
The article examines the peculiarities of media language and explores the relationship between the concepts “text”, “media text”, “discourse” and “media discourse”. The authors describe media text as one of the basic components of medialinguistics. It’s a kind of text intended for a mass audience and is characterized by a combination of verbal and media units. Discourse is a text in total with extralinguistic factors, while media discourse is regarded as a media text together with pragmatic, sociocultural, psychological and other factors.
