Abstract
The article is devoted to the description of the pedagogical research on the development of students' research skills, conducted within the framework of the "Action-research" project. The essence of the "Action-research" project is to involve teachers directly engaged in the learning process in conducting research work to improve their practice. Modern education is not only about teaching certain knowledge and skills, but also developing critical thinking and research skills. The authors conducted a study on the effectiveness of the application of the project method for the development of students’ critical thinking and research skills. The article reveals the problems and difficulties that arise when organizing the project activity of students. Based on the analysis of organization and carrying out of project works, the authors suggest ways of solving problems.
