Journal Title: Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal - Year 2024, Vol 23, Issue 7

Abstract

The Alternative Learning System (ALS) is designed as a parallel educational pathway for individuals who did not complete their basic education through the traditional school system. This study delves into the challenges encountered by ALS students, such as limited opportunities, academic difficulties, lack of community and family support, and low self-confidence. The study also highlights the resilience and determination of ALS students in overcoming these obstacles, showcasing their efforts to earn degrees, obtain employment, and improve the lives of their families. This also emphasizes the significance of addressing the needs of ALS students through targeted interventions and support systems. It also underscores the importance of community and school collaboration in enhancing students' social awareness and intellectual capacity. Understanding the difficulties faced by ALS learners, such as financial hardships and irregular attendance, is crucial in developing coping strategies and providing the necessary resources to help them navigate their academic journey effectively. Overall, the findings emphasize the need for tailored approaches to empower ALS students and facilitate their educational advancement.
