Abstract

Tajweed is a science based on the principle of recitation of the Qur’an with proper pronunciation that holds an important place in the Islamic sciences but is not easy to learn. Therefore, there are many examples of verse tajweed in our literary history in order to make tajweed more memorable, more attractive, and appealing, especially for children. It was thought that those who would like to learn Tajweed could progress faster with these verse examples and keep on learning without getting bored. Presenting tajweed together with art is extremely important for children of learning age to acquire literary and artistic skills. Fethü’l- Tecvid written by Salihcan Barudi, the brother of Alimcan Barudi, a renowned Kazan Tatar intellectual, ulama, and philosopher, was published in Kazan in 1895. Fetḥü’l-Tecvīd, registered in the manuscripts department of the Cengiz Aytmatov Language and Literature Institute of the Kirghiz National Academy of Sciences, Department of Humanities and Economic Sciences, is important for Kazan Tatar literature as it is an example of tajweed in verse and its multiple language features indicate that it is a good example of historical Kazan Tatar Turkish. Indeed, since it incorporates some Oghuz features and some examples where Chagatai orthography has been introduced into the work, the work distinguishes itself with its linguistic features from çağdaş Kazan Tatar Turkish. This study transcribed Fethü’l- Tecvid and focused on the linguistic features that differ from çağdaş Kazan Tatar Turkish. Study unearthed a good example of Kazan Tatar Sufi literature and tried to shed light on the linguistic features of historical Kazan Tatar Turkish.
