Kazimierz Dąbrowski's features in 1978-1980 as an example of psychological counseling

Abstract
From 1978 to 1980, Kazimierz Dąbrowski wrote features and replied to readers' letters for Polish national student weekly itd. The magazine was very popular and a lot of people bought it specially for Dąbrowski's features. They included a description of positive disintegration theory, views on its use in solving some social issues and - first of all - personal development principles, which Professor related to the problems described in the letters. The article presents the subject matter of the features and examples of psychological problems raised in readers' letters. Based on the analysis of the replies to readers' letters, the author describes the principles of providing psychological first aid: formal principles (structure and language) and principles relating to content. It is a starting point for reflection on possibilities of using Kazimierz Dąbrowski's achievements in our times in different areas of psychological counseling. Dąbrowski's journalism is a phenomenon that is worthy of reflection for developmental psychologists, especially when its sociohistorical context is considered.
