Abstract
Energy security of armed forces is one of the key issues for cooperation of NATO countries at the beginning of the twenty-first century. The military operations in the Middle East have consolidated the military activities of NATO countries in terms of energy production using alternative sources. Energy cooperation within the framework of NATO could become a starting point for a broader alliance of the countries belonging to the organisation in the context of both civil and military modernization of the energy sector. The article presents the actions of NATO countries aimed at introducing alternative methods of obtaining energy by using renewable energy sources in the armed forces.
