Kinds of sadness and tears in the eastern and Кyiv-Сaves paterikons

Abstract
The history of emotions is one of the important and perspective directions of modern historiography. It recognizes the cultural character of the senses. Historians of emotions do not deny the psychological approach to the latter but focus on their cultural background. This is due to that emotion is determined by not only psychological but also cultural factors. All stages of the human reaction to an event are expressed by certain regulatory mechanisms. The latter are enclosed in the texts. Therefore, historians of emotions should refer to the texts. Narrative sources contain important information about the emotional codes of the different historical periods. So they are important for historians of emotions. For medievists in this context, spiritual, hagiographic, literature is especially valuable. The article is devoted to the comparison of view on the sadness and tears in the eastern and Кyiv-Сaves paterikons. The author analyzes these texts and draws attention to such aspects as role and place of negative emotions in the human life, kinds of them, their evaluations. Each kind of unlucky emotions is considered separately. The result of the research is detection of the similarity between translated and original texts. It is at the level of ideas. The author explains this phenomenon by the existence of a theological tradition of understanding sorrow and tears.
