Journal Title: "Український смисл" - Year 2017, Vol 1, Issue
Abstract
The article is devoted to an actual and interesting problem of modern linguostilistics such as to research the opposed lexemes in poetic language. The aim of the proposed article is to analyze the antonymic pairs, antonymic and synonymic paradigms and oxymoron syntagms in lingvoartistic worldview of Ukrainian poet Grygorii Koval, whose creative work has not been the object of investigation in linguistics. The achievement of setting objectives requires solving the following tasks: 1) to identify antonymic pairs, antonymic and synonymic paradigms in Koval’s poetics; 2) to characterize the most productive oppositions; 3) to determine the stylistic functions of oppositions in the researched poetic texts. The most productive oppositions in the researched poetic texts in particular temporal (day – night), locative (land – sky), emotive (love – hatred, joy – sadness, to be glad – to grieve, to laugh – to cry) were characterized. Metaphorical transfer of the semantically opposed lexemes was analyzed. It is established that in some poetic contexts antonymic lexems acquire double actualization (combination of denotative and connotative meanings) by what a concrete sensuous representation is achieved. Such semantic expression of opposed lexems gives additional expression, intensifies artistic expression of the poetry. It has been proved that characteristic feature of lingvoartistic worldview of the poet was a claim of indissoluble connection of human life and nature, transference of human feelings and emotional experience to the nature, which rejoices and sorrows together with a lyric character. Author’s individual genitive metaphors based on oppositions testify to originality of poetic perception of the world. Stylistic functions of oppositions (acrothesis, amphithesis, antithesis) and oxymoron syntagms were analysed. As a result of the research carried out it is established that antonymic lexems and oxymoron syntagms which are characteristic of G. Koval’s poetical style are used to create polar characteristics of characters and things of surrounding world, to express contrasting essence of people thoughts and feelings, to underline interconnection of man and nature, to highlight the emotional state of the lyric character. The perspective researches deals with examining semantically opposed lexems on the material of the poetic texts of other authors.
