Ks. Pankracy Pfeiffer – świadek zakonnej wierności i głębokiego człowieczeństwa

Journal Title: Studia Salvatoriana Polonica - Year 2018, Vol 12, Issue

Abstract

The article evokes the memory of Rev. Pancratius Pfeiffer SDS (1872-1945). He was born in Germany, but spent the majority of his life in Rome – from the moment of joining the congregation of Salvatorians to his tragic death. He closely cooperated with Rev. Francis Jordan, the founder of Salvatorians and was, for almost 30 years, superior general of the congregation. The readers’ attention is drawn to the family environment of Rev. Pfeiffer and to the significance of his service as the general superior. The article highlights his remarkable contribution to saving the population and monuments of Rome and other Italian cities during German occupation. That is why he gained a nickname „Angel of Rome”. The topicality of Rev. Pfeiffer’s testimony is also pointed out.
