Journal Title: Український терапевтичний журнал - Year 2019, Vol 0, Issue 3
Abstract
Herpes virus infection holds a special place in the structure of viral diseases due to its high prevalence in the population, a variety of clinical forms, as well as the steadily growing number of infected people. Labial herpes is one of the most common clinical form of herpes virus infection. According to statistics, the disease at least once recorded in 18 % of the worldwide population, and the annual growth rate of its incidence is 15—17 %. Seropositivity to these pathogens reaches up to 90—100 % in some regions. Labial herpes is a socially significant disease, due to the recurrent course, it significant affect the quality of life of patients and their social adaptation. Despite the sufficient coverage of the problems of local treatment of labial herpes, issues of optimizing topical therapy, increasing its effectiveness, and improving the quality of life of patients remain open. The paper highlighted the peculiarities of the labial herpes course, current approaches to the etiotropic and symptomatic topical treatment of its relapses. The advantages of topical preparations containing penciclovir as the main active ingredient have been demonstrated. The use of methyluracil in the treatment of labial herpes relapses has been substantiated, its action is aimed on the raising of treatment efficacy, reduction of the rehabilitation duration by activating cells’ proliferation in the epidermis and dermis and stimulating the processes of epithelization. The prospects for further research have been discussed, which include assessing the possibility of the combined use of external drugs bas
