LEGAL BASES OF FUNCTIONING OF SUPRA-NATIONAL PARTIES IN THE EUROPEAN UNION

Abstract
The article is devoted to the basic legal provisions defining the specific activities of supranational political parties in the European Union. It analyzes the legal status of the political party of the European level, particularly its financing and the possibility of the involvement of such parties in the European Parliament’s activities. It focuses on the analysis of the rules contained in Regulation (EC) No 2004/2003 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 4 November 2003 on the regulations governing political parties at the European level and the rules regarding their funding, which define the criteria required for a supranational parties, all issues related to the financing of parties, including financing from the EU budget.
