Living with diabetes : a woman’s perspective

Journal Title: Journal of the Indian Medical Association - Year 2018, Vol 116, Issue 8

Abstract

Living with diabetes brings multiple challenges with it. This burden is amplified for women, who bear responsibility for management of this condition in themselves, as well as their family members. This person-centred narrative looks at life with diabetes through the eyes of a woman, who has seen the syndrome in multiple generations of her family. This article emphasizes the ‘human’ side of diabetes, and hopes that understanding of this social impact will help doctors manage diabetes more humanely.
