LONG-TERM TREND OF THE IONOSPHERIC E-LAYER RESPONSE TO SOLAR FLARES
Journal Title: Solar-Terrestrial Physics - Year 2022, Vol 8, Issue 1
Abstract
Using data from ground-based vertical sounding of the ionosphere (VS) at the station Moscow and five Japanese stations for the period from 1969 to 2015, we have examined the long-term response of the E layer to solar X-ray flares. The analysis relies on the previously developed method for estimating the ratio between rates of ionization by X-rays qx and ultraviolet radiation qu during flares. We confirmed the existence of a long-term (at least covering the 45-year observation period) increase in the proportion of X-rays in the total ionization rate of the ionospheric E layer, characterized by the ratio qx/q, where q=qx+q. The qx/q ratio is shown to increase throughout the period of interest at a rate independent of the solar activity cycle. There is also no dependence of the qx/q trend rate on the season, latitude (26°–56° N), and longitude (37°–28° E).

MEASUREMENT OF ENERGY DISTRIBUTION FOR LOW POWER NANOFLARES
We propose a method to measure the energy distribution of low-energy flares (nanoflares) in the energy range below 1023 erg. As an example, we measured the spectrum of nanoflares in the 1021–1026 erg range for two Sun’s...
CLASSIFICATION OF MAGNETOSPHERIC RESPONSES TO INTERACTION WITH DIAMAGNETIC STRUCTURES OF SLOW SOLAR WIND
We propose a possible classification of the responses of the magnetosphere to the interaction with diamagnetic structures (DS), which form the basis of the slow solar wind. The main determinants of the classification are...
CURRENT STATUS OF THE TEMPERATURE AND HUMIDITY REGIME OF THE TROPOSPHERE IN THE SIBERIAN SECTOR IN DIFFERENT CIRCULATION PERIODS
The paper studies the long-term dynamics of air temperature and relative humidity anomaly indices in the surface layer and at different levels of the troposphere in Siberia and neighboring regions (European and Far Easte...
INTERACTION BETWEEN LONG-PERIOD ULF WAVES AND CHARGED PARTICLE IN THE MAGNETOSPHERE: THEORY AND OBSERVATIONS (OVERVIEW)
The paper reviews the current state of the problem of interaction between long-period ultra-low-frequency (ULF) waves and high-energy particles. We consider elements of the theory of energy exchange between waves and par...
