Main types, application conditions, and standards of thoracic drainage tubes in peacetime and wartime: An expert consensus
Journal Title: Perioperative Precision Medicine - Year 2025, Vol 3, Issue 1
Abstract
Thoracic drainage plays a crucial role in both peacetime and wartime clinical medicine, serving as an indispensable method for treating thoracic diseases and managing trauma patients. Whether in routine medical care or in the complex situations of war or military operations, thoracic drainage is essential. This expert consensus aims to clarify the primary uses and appropriate patient populations for different types of thoracic drainage tubes, providing healthcare professionals with a systematic guide for the correct selection and application of drainage tubes in various scenarios, thereby optimizing treatment outcomes. We emphasize the need to establish specific rapid response mechanisms to meet the urgent medical demands of wartime, ensuring timely and effective thoracic drainage even in resource-limited situations. Furthermore, innovation in new technologies and materials is also key to advancing thoracic drainage techniques.
