Abstract
Market segmentation in the context of operating expenses – case study from the furniture industry. Part I. The real challenge for furniture enterprises is to find a model providing the concentration of company resources on what it does best, as well as bring costs to a level which could be acceptable. The publication consists of two parts. This one - the first - focuses on the structure of fixed and variable costs in the studied furniture companies. The second part, on the other hand, contains analyzes on other cost sharing, ie. direct and indirect. The aim of the study was to analyze the costs of operating activities in the three large companies producing and selling case-goods furniture. The main result of the conducted analysis (part I) was obtaining the average fixed and variable costs structure of products (furniture) sold. Additionally, the differences between the costs structures of surveyed companies were discussed in the context of furniture price shelf. The time range of the study was assumed for 2007-2014.
