Measurement of strategic and operational competitive advantage – example of selected companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange

Abstract
Since primary objective of the company is to maximize its value, competitive advantage should be assessed according to its financial efficiency and contribution into company value creation. The purpose of this article is to present possible methods of measuring competitive advantage from the perspective of value based management concept on the example of selected companies listed on the WSE. The distinction between measures of operational and strategic competitive advantage is presented. The correlation between brand strength as a measure of operational competitive advantage and enterprise value/invested capital ratio as a measure of strategic competitive advantage has been identified.
