Modeling Lifetime Data with the Odd Generalized Exponentiated Inverse Lomax Distribution
Journal Title: Current Trends on Biostatistics & Biometrics - Year 2019, Vol 1, Issue 3
Abstract
We propose a four parameter compound continuous distribution in this study. Simulation studies was carried out to investigate the behavior of the proposed distribution, from which the maximum likelihood estimates for the true parameters, including the bias and root mean square error (RMSE) were obtained. The proposed model was applied to the strengths of glass fibres dataset and the result compared to other existing distribution. The Lomax distribution also called “Pareto type II” is a special case of the generalized beta distribution of the second kind [1], and can be seen in many application areas, such as actuarial science, economics, biological sciences, engineering, lifetime and reliability modeling and so on [2]. This heavy-duty distribution is considered useful as an alternative distribution to survival problems and lifetesting in engineering and survival analysis [3]. Inverse Lomax distribution is a member of the inverted family of distributions and discovered to be very flexible in analyzing situations with a realized non-monotonic failure rate [4]. The probability density function and cumulative density function of the Inverted Lomax distribution are given by [5]:

The T-R {Generalized Lambda V} Families of Distributions
The four-parameter generalized lambda distribution (GLD) was proposed in [1]. We say the GLD is of type V, if the quantile function corresponds to Case(v) in of [2], that is, where u 2 (0, 1) and a, b 2 (−1, 0). In this...
A Simple Mathematical Model for a New Type of Cancer Cells
Recently new type of cancer cells has been observed. It is called Hybrid cells. A simple mathematical model is proposed to describe them. It implies that they will be near the tumor surface or circulating. Some comments...
Some Simple Mathematical Models in Epilepsy
Epilepsy is a chronic disorder of the brain that affects people of all ages. Here epileptic seizures equations are related to the telegraph equation. Epilepsy is a chronic disorder of the brain that affects people of all...
P Value and Statistical Significance
The practice of reporting P-values is commonplace in applied research. Presenting the result of a test only as the rejection or acceptance of the null hypothesis at a certain level of significance, does not make full use...
