MODELS AND MODELLING THE SUPERCAPACITORS FOR A DEFINED APPLICATION
Journal Title: ANALELE UNIVERSITATII DIN CRAIOVA - Seria Inginerie electrica - Year 2011, Vol 35, Issue 35
Abstract
Supercapacitors, located in the middle of the energy storage devices’ hierarchy, present unique advantages that make them indispensable for applications which require high power delivered in a short time. Establishing the appropriateness of strategies for using these devices is through knowing the supercapacitor’s behavior in different loads and its control. Starting from the establishment of a mathematical-econometric model that allows the supercapacitor characteristics’ optimization and of a basic electrical equivalent model, the paper presents the realization of a new complex, adaptive model of a supercapacitor, used as a storage device and power supply, taking into account temperature influences on key parameters, the effect of high frequencies on the capacitance and the effects of aging based on application-specific usage. Based on thorough analysis of the classic measurements that are made in pre-choosing a type of supercapacitor to perform the function of an energy source in a system and taking into account all the above factors that may influence the behavior of a supercapacitor, the new electrical equivalent, conceptually model is tested and validated by successive simulations using dedicated software. The model is stable during the simulation and the size of the error to the measured value does not exceed 2.1% of nominal voltage. The solution is even more important as the power supply system must ensure continuity all operating conditions.

Predictive versus Classic Control of the Induction Motor Drives
The paper deals with techniques which use the predictive concepts in order to obtain both the pulse width modulation strategy of a voltage fed inverter and the predictive control of the induction motor drive. Concerning...
ANALYSIS OF COUPLED OSCILLATORS APPLIED TO ANTENNA ARRAYS
In recent years microwave oscillators are widely studied. They are used to guide the radiation pattern of a phased array antenna in a certain direction instead of the traditional beam steering methods. These new control...
APPLICATION OF FIBER OPTIC INTEGRATED FABRYPEROT INTERFEROMETER FOR NON ELECTRIC QUANTITIES MEASUREMENT IN ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING
The non-electric quantities measurement technologies widely used in the present technique are based on conventional technologies known for many years, which lead to reliable and reproducible results. With a view to measu...
Hybrid Petri Nets in Modeling the Packing Processes: Case Study
In many cases, the packing processes are considered as hybrid systems, consisting of a set of workstations, where various components must be processed, and at least one flexible transport system used for loading and/or u...
Monitoring and Analysis of the Electrical Parameters for an Industrial Consumer using LabVIEWEnvironment
This paper presents a case study for monitoring the quality of electric energy in an industrial consumer. The measurements were carried in the power supply point where the quality of the electric energy is influenced by...
