Abstract
In the article, on the basis of conducted historical and pedagogical analysis of ethnographic sources of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, the influence of motile games and entertainment on the physical education of children and adolescents of the Eastern Slavs has been highlighted. Our ancestors proved to be talented educators. Educational moments were not detached, but they were rather embodied in the games and entertainment. Folk pedagogical rep- resentations of the Eastern Slavic peoples, their achievements in the physical education of the child in our time are rele- vant and effective, since they show one of the leading ideas − a careful attitude to the health, the development of physical and spiritual forces, a sense of positive influence of nature on the human body. The author shows that imitating the actions of adults in the games, the children acquired practical and social experi- ence, developed physically. Motion games and fun corresponded to the age of children and aimed at the development of physical strength of adolescents, namely, they foreseen the implementation of certain physical exercises, depending on physical endurance, hardness, skill. Ethnographic material indicates that among the East Slavic children there were common games of babky (grandmoth- ers), the ball, children rode on sledges, went skiing, skating, competed on stick-clubs, which in turn developed the physical strength and qualities of the children and youth.
