Myristica frangans: A Green Corrosion Inhibitor for Mild Steel in Boiler Scale Removal

Abstract

The inhibitive action of Myristica Frangans on the corrosion of mild steel in 1 M HCl was studied by weight loss, polarization method and impedance spectroscopy. Results indicated that MF acts as an effective inhibitor in the acid environment. The inhibition efficiency of MF increased with increase in inhibitor concentration and decreased with temperature. The adsorption of MF follows Langmuir and Temkin adsorption isotherm. Thermodynamic functions have been evaluated from temperature studies. Electrochemical measurements revealed that MF acts as a mixed type inhibitor
