Myristica frangans: A Green Corrosion Inhibitor for Mild Steel in Boiler Scale Removal
Journal Title: International Journal of Research in Chemistry and Environment (IJRCE) - Year 2013, Vol 3, Issue 3
Abstract
The inhibitive action of Myristica Frangans on the corrosion of mild steel in 1 M HCl was studied by weight loss, polarization method and impedance spectroscopy. Results indicated that MF acts as an effective inhibitor in the acid environment. The inhibition efficiency of MF increased with increase in inhibitor concentration and decreased with temperature. The adsorption of MF follows Langmuir and Temkin adsorption isotherm. Thermodynamic functions have been evaluated from temperature studies. Electrochemical measurements revealed that MF acts as a mixed type inhibitor

A Sequential Extraction Method for the Chemical Speciation of Metals in Harmattan Dust Collected from Kano and Zaria Cities in Northern Nigeria
Harmattan dusts are the reservoir for many harmful constituents, elemental and biological including heavy metals and trace metals. Chemical speciation is the process of determining and identifying specific chemical speci...
Effect of Dairy Effluent (treated and untreated) on Seed Germination, Seedling Growth and Biochemical Parameters of Maize (Zea mays L.)
A laboratory experiment was carried out to study the effect of dairy effluent (DEF) at different concentrations and treated effluent on seed germination, seedling growth, dry matter production and biochemical parameters...
Influence of a Mixture of Spent Engine Oil, Fresh Diesel and Gasoline on Nerica Rice (Tox, Mecux and Wita.4) Tiller and Panicle Parameters
Rice provides a staple food for more than half of the world’s population. Therefore, in order to improve rice production, it is imperative to elucidate how rice physiological parameters will respond to anticipated unfavo...
Application of Carrageenan Stabilized Fe0 Nanoparticles for the Degradation of Chlorpyrifos in water
This paper describes the synthesis of carrageenan-stabilized Fe0 (abbreviated as CG-Fe0) nanoparticles and their applications to the degradation of chlorpyrifos under controlled laboratorial conditions. For this purpose...
Importance of Industrial Waste in Maximizing the Yield of Rice and Its Effect of Soil Fertility in Coastal Region
A field experiment was conducted in the coastal region of Ramanathapuram district in Tamil Nadu to maximize the rice yield through integrated nutrient management and its effects on soil properties. There were four so...
