Nadużywanie alkoholu jako czynnik ryzyka przemocy w rodzinie

Abstract
EN: Violence towards the elderly is not a new phenomenon, yet its investigation has a relatively short history. The aim of this article is to present the connection between alcohol abuse and violence in a marriage of people above the age of 60. A theoretical framework for the research is the theory of social actions, with research material being obtained during an international research project “Mind the Gap”. Analysis of judicial documents shows that the vast majority of elderly men abusing their wives act under the influence of alcohol. The abuse happens for many years, however, victims most often simply adjust to this traumatic situation. It seems that actions raising public awareness about cases of abuse, simultaneously presenting support for elderly women who experience violence are necessary. PL: Przemoc wobec ludzi starych nie jest zjawiskiem nowym, jednak jego badanie ma stosunkowo krótką historię. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest ukazanie związku nadużywania alkoholu z przemocą w relacjach małżeńskich osób w wieku 60 lat i więcej. Ramy teoretyczne badań stanowi teoria działania społecznego, a materiał badawczy został pozyskany w ramach międzynarodowego projektu badawczego „Mind the Gap”. Z analizy akt sądowych wynika, że zdecydowana większość starych mężczyzn znęcających się nad żonami działała pod wpływem alkoholu. Znęcanie się miało miejsce przez wiele lat, natomiast osoby poszkodowane najczęściej biernie przystosowywały się do traumatycznej sytuacji. Konieczne wydają się działania uświadamiające, które uwrażliwią społeczność lokalną na przypadki znęcania się, stanowiąc jednocześnie wsparcie dla starszych kobiet doznających przemocy.
