Nano Technology in Construction
Journal Title: IOSR Journal of Mechanical and Civil Engineering (IOSR-JMCE) - Year 2018, Vol 15, Issue 1
Abstract
Nanotechnology is one of the most active research areas that encompass a number of disciplines, including civil engineering and construction materials. The Nano-materials and their applications in civil engineering field across its different sections are exemplified. The properties like self-sensing, selfrehabilitation, self-structural health monitoring, self-vibration damping, self-cleaning and self-healing are studied. The objective of this study is to review the role of nanotechnology in civil engineering applications. Furthermore, it has been observed that better understanding and engineering of complex structures made by cement, steel or composite materials at nano-level will definitely result in a new generation of construction materials with higher performance in strength, durability, and other properties.

Simulation of flows over an Air-Regulated Siphon Spillway
: The air-regulated siphon spillways are adopted on streams that are subjected to flash floods or where there is insufficient space to provide conventional weirs. Discharge in an air – regulated spillway is solely govern...
Design and Fabrication of A Single Acting Hydraulic Crane
In this present work, the designed and fabrication of a single acting hydraulic crane was carried out. The hydraulic crane is made up of the following main components; the hydraulic actuator or actuating cylinder, the ma...
Critical Analysis of Air Pollution over Chennai in India
Air pollution is the release of air pollutants into the atmosphere. Those pollutants may be gases or particulate matter and can come from a variety of sources. These are carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides,...
Grain Size Effects in Indentation Response of Nan crystalline Tungsten –A Molecular Dynamic Simulation
In this study we tried a series of nanoindentation test on nanocrystalline (nc) tungsten (W) specimens, using Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulations and Embedded Atom Method (EAM). We studied the grain size effect in the ra...
Relevance of Castor oil and Neem Oil as Renewable Energy BioBased Lubricating Fluids in Extrusion of Aluminium Billet
This paper investigated the relevance of Castor oil and Neem oil as renewable energy bio-based lubricating fluids in extrusion of aluminium billet. The two oils were formulated with 0.5 and 0.75 percentage weight of anti...
