DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION OF NEW SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC METHODS FOR THE QUANTITATIVE ESTIMATION OF SILODOSIN IN BULK DRUG AND PHARMACEUTICAL FORMULATIONS
Journal Title: Int J of Preclin & Pharm Res - Year 2014, Vol 4, Issue 1
Abstract
ABSTRACT Three simple, sensitive, accurate and rapid spectrophotometric methods A, B and C have been developed for the quantitative estimation of Silodosin in bulk drug and also pharmaceutical formulations. Method A is a UV-spectrophotometric method in which Silodosin was dissolved in alcohol showing גmax 269nm.The method is linear in the concentration range of 10-50g/ml. Methods B and C are based on oxidation followed by complex formation reaction. In method B and C Silodosin reacts with 1,10-phenanthroline and 2,2’-bipyridyl to form orange red colored chromogen which shows maximum absorbance at 507nm and 518nm for methods B and C respectively. Linearity range for method B was between 2-10g/ml and that for method C was between 4-20g/ml. Results of the analysis were validated statistically. All the validation parameters were within the acceptable range and prove the precision, sensitivity and applicability of the methods for the routine quantitative determination of Silodosin in its dosage form. Keywords: Silodosin, 1,10-phenanthroline, 2,2’-bipyridyl, UV-Spectrophotometer.
