DIRECT FRONT TEETH AESTHETIC RESTORATIONS IN NON CARIOUS TOOTH SUBSTANCE LOSS

Journal Title: Journal MEDICINA STOMATOLOGIĂ - Year 2014, Vol 78, Issue 2

Abstract

In contemporary dentistry practice, physicians often encounter patients with various type of non carious tooth substance loss, as abfraction, abrasion, erosion, attrition and crown fracture. Stressful and busy lifestyle of nowadays society can lead to the formation of habits/addictions, which will cause the occurrence of these destructions. The etiology of abfraction, abrasion, erosion and attrition are closely related, so one and the same patient may have a combination of these conditions. Modern dentistry has evolved not only as a science but as an art, aiming to restore tooth form as close to the original shape, improving function and occlusion, to a maximum aesthetic result. Nowadays, in a society dominated by economic, social and sexual competition, the desire to improve the aesthetic appearance of teeth rapidly increases, public examples being even politicians, singers, actors. Aesthetics has become an important field of dentistry, given that the present treatment is limited to the function, structure and biology and does not take into account the patient's aesthetic impact can lead to disastrous results in the doctor-patient relationship. In order to achieve patient expectations it is essential that physicians have knowledge of form, texture and color restoration and understanding of optical properties of dental tissues and composite resins (translucency , fluorescence and opalescence).
