Regression analysis of shot peening process for performance characteristics of AISI 304 austenitic stainless steel
Journal Title: International Journal of Modern Engineering Research (IJMER) - Year 2013, Vol 3, Issue 5
Abstract
The surface fibers of the material are yielded in tension by the impact of shots in shot peening process. Below the surface fiber an even thin skin surface layer of material is deformed and this layer is highly stressed in compression. It results in the improvement of surface and mechanical properties of the material. Regression analysis is the statistical modeling technique, and it is suitable for the majority of predicting problems. It is valuable for quantifying the impact of various simultaneous influences upon a single dependent variable. In the present study quantification of performance characteristics were carried out, by developing the mathematical models of logarithmic nature using regression analysis. MINITAB 14 is a statistical tool which is used for the complete analysis. The analysis includes pressure, shot size, exposure time, nozzle distance and nozzle angle as process parameters. The complete analysis will be helpful to the manufacturer in deciding the shot peening parameters for desired performance characteristics. It helps the manufacturer to reduce the cost and improve its productivity.

Analysis of Connecting Rod Using Analytical and Finite Element Method
ABSTRACT: The connecting rod is a major link inside of a combustion engine. It connects the piston to the crankshaft and is responsible for transferring power from the piston to the crankshaft and sending it to the...
Characterisation of potential pollution sources in the quantitative assessment of risk to groundwater resources within the Birmingham aquifers, UK
This work presents a methodological approach where distribution of potential pollution sources and historical frequency of pollution incidents are included in the assessment of risk to groundwater resources....
Evaluation of Compressive Strength and Water Absorption of Styrene Butadiene Rubber (SBR) Latex Modified Concrete
In this research, effect of Styrene-Butadiene Rubber (SBR) latex on water absorption and compressive strength of concrete has been studied. A locally available “RIPSTAR-148” is used as SBR Latex. It has been observed th...
Potential Use of LPG in A Medium Capacity Stationary HCCI Engine
Internal combustion engines are extensively used in every field of life in today’s world. Diesel engines being more efficient are preferred in the industrial and transportation sector in comparison to spark ign...
An Efficient Mechanism of Handling MANET Routing Attacks using Risk Aware Mitigation with Distributed Node Control
Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANET) have been highly vulnerable to attacks due to the dynamic nature of its network infrastructure. Among these attacks, routing attacks have received considerable attention since it coul...
