The Mechanical Behaviour of Recycled High Density Polyethylene
Journal Title: International Journal of Modern Engineering Research (IJMER) - Year 2013, Vol 3, Issue 2
Abstract
Abstract: In last few years with the increasing use of polymeric materials the disposal of the used material became a serious problem. As polyethylene is one of the common used polymers in many applications it represents a significant amount of the total municipal waste of thermoplastic materials. Thus recycling process of polyethylene is a subject which needs more investigation. Hence in the present work an experimental investigation of the mechanical properties was carried out on virgin and recycled/virgin high density polyethylene (HDPE) to study the effect of three successive generations of HDPE as well as of the amount of recycled material added to the virgin one on the density, tensile, impact, and creep properties. The results showed that with recycling the HDPE three times, the density as well as the modulus of elasticity, the percentage elongation, the impact strength, and the recovery percentage of the HDPE decrease while the tensile strength increases. With increasing the recycled to virgin ratio of HDPE the density, the impact strength, and the recovery percentage increase while the modulus of elasticity, the percentage elongation, and the tensile strength remain almost constant.

Here in this work, an attempt has been made to find the interaction between control parameters and weld bead geometry for fillet welding in mild steel specimen using Gas Metal Arc Welding process. Accordingly c...
Power Quality Enhancement in an Isolated Power System Using Series Compensation
In Isolated power systems the power quality problem is compounded as the drive converter loads are likely to fluctuate in conjunction with mining or exploration areas. The use of compensators in improving power qua...
Between -I-closed sets and g-closed sets
In this paper we introduce a new class of sets known asδS –closed sets in ideal topological spaces and we studied some of its basic properties and characterizations. This new class of sets lies between –I–closed [19]...
