The selection of oxide support of the catalyst for N2O emission abatement

Abstract
The usefulness of oxide supports of a different chemical composition, for the deposition of multicomponent cobalt spinel catalyst as an active phase, designed for the reduction of N2O emission, was investigated. The influence of the calcination temperature on the porosity, pore size and its distribution, water absorbability and mechanical strength of the shaped support was determined. It was found that, due to the very high mechanical strength and beneficial porous structure (large contribution of macropores) the best properties, among the investigated supports, in terms of preparation of supported catalyst for N2O decomposition, has alumina oxide, formed by an extrusion method and calcined at the temperature of 1400°C.
