THE TYPOLOGY OF THE HUMAN SETTLEMENTS FROM DÂMBOVIŢA VALLEY IN THE AREA OF HIGH SUB-MOUNTAINOUS PLAIN

Abstract
The area under analysis is situated in the center of Dâmboviţa County, its relief being that of high sub-mountainous plain, with a protecting temperate-continental climate and fertile soils that favored the development of natural vegetation and of agricultural cultures. Both the natural and the underground potential have been factors that helped the development of the rural habitat along Dâmboviţa Valley and had a special importance in the inhabiting of this area. The four communes under study are: Dragomireşti Commune, covering a surface of 38 km2 and being made up of the villages: Dragomireşti, Decindeni, Geangoeşti, Mogoşeşti, Râncaciov and Ungureni; Lucieni Commune, covering a surface of 69 km2 and being made up of the villages: Lucieni, Olteni, Raciu, Siliştea and Şuţa Seacă; Văcăreşti Commune, covering a surface of 59 km2 and being made up of the villages: Văcăreşti, Brăteştii de Jos, Bungetu and Perşinari; and Nucet Commune covering a surface of 39 km2 and being made up of the villages : Nucet, Cazaci and Ilfoveni. In the area of high sub-mountainous plain of Dâmboviţa Valley we identified several types of villages based on the following criteria: localization of the precincts, morpho-structure of the precincts, demographic size and socio-economic functions.
