WATER QUALITY IN THE URBAN ECOSYSTEM OF TÂRGOVIŞTE

Abstract
The increase of the water demand, closely related to the demographic growth, as well as the industrial development and modernization determine modifications of the water quality and, consequently, preoccupations in this domain. In the urban ecosystem of Târgovişte the anthropic activity triggers modifications of the water quality, especially of the surface waters, the main polluting sources being: the industrial platforms, the leaks from used waters treatment stations and the Oil Derrick of Târgovişte. It can be observed that some measures have been adopted in order to reduce pollution, yet the danger of accidental pollution remains present; its consequences would include a decrease of the health condition of the population and of the aquatic ecosystems, the impossibility for the downstream users to use the water and high costs for treating the waters. In order to protect the quality of the waters, some measures are necessary for the retechnologization and modernization of the water treatment stations, for the ecologisation of the waste deposit from Aninoasa, for eliminating the illegal domestic and industrial waste deposits and, among others, educational activities to turn people’s way of thinking towards an ecological, environment-friendly behavior.
