Abstract
The article deals with the new detects of slang for marking negative processes in the language of mass media. The effort to group and systematize slang by the sphere of its use has been made. The stylistic role of slang in the language of modern periodicals is defined, the influence of extra linguistic factors on the language of Ukrainian periodicals has been analyzed.
