NUMERICAL ANALYSIS OF THE DRAG COEFFICIENT OF A MOTORCYCLE HELMET
Journal Title: Applied Computer Science - Year 2018, Vol 14, Issue 1
Abstract
The paper discusses a numerical investigation, using a CFD tool, ANSYS FLUENT, of drag acting on a motorcycle helmet. The simulations were performed on a model of a helmet downloaded from a free CAD model library. A solid model enabled us to generate a mesh, to define boundary conditions and to specify a model of turbulence. Accordingly, the values of forces acting on individual sections of the helmet were obtained and the coefficients of aerodynamic drag were calculated. The test results can be used to optimize the shape of the existing motorcycle helmet construction and to study the impact of generated drag forces on reaction forces affecting a motorcyclist’s body.

EVALUATION OF SAP SYSTEM IMPLEMENTATION IN AN ENTERPRISE OF THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY – CASE STUDY
Modern businesses boost management by implementing integrated IT systems, such as highly popular in Poland – SAP software, to aid the enterprise resource planning (ERP). This paper evaluates the implementation of an ERP...
IMPLEMENTING THE FADE-IN AUDIO EFFECT FOR REAL-TIME COMPUTING
Audio fading is performed in order to smoothly modify over time the level of an audio signal. In particular, the fade-in audio effect designates a grad-ually increase in the audio volume, starting from silence. In practi...
COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF THE IMPACT OF DIE DESIGN ON ITS LOAD AND DISTRIBUTION OF STRESS DURING EXTRUSION
In the paper a numerical comparative analysis of stresses in a steel die com-pressed by a ring during the extrusion process was presented. In the research, three design solutions of the die were used. The solutions vary...
ENCAPSULATION OF IMAGE METADATA FOR EASE OF RETRIEVAL AND MOBILITY
Increasing proliferation of images due to multimedia capabilities of hand-held devices has resulted in loss of source information resulting from inherent mobility. These images are cumbersome to search out once stored aw...
