Abstract

[Objective] To compare the droplet deposition characteristics between electrostatic spray and conventional spray during operations for plant protection, solve the problems of difficult collection of fog drop data and uncontrollable environmental parameters in plant protection operation and improve plant protection efficiency. [Method] Based on computational fluid dynamics(CFD) discrete phase model particle tracking technology and magnetohydrodynamics (MHD), the droplet deposition characteristics were contrasted, simulated and analyzed when the range of ambient wind speed and spray height were 0 to 3 m·s-1 and 30 to 200 cm respectively. [Result] The particle size of conventional spray was larger than that of electrostatic spray and the results show that ambient wind speed and spray height had great influence on spray droplet deposition. When the ambient wind speed was within 1 m·s-1, the effect of electrostatic induction was stronger, and the effect of electrostatic spray deposition was more obvious with higher deposition amount compared with the conventional spray within the spray height of 100 cm, at this time the maximum deposition rate was higher than that of the conventional spray by 48%. With the further increase of ambient wind speed and spray height, the effect of electrostatic induction gradually weakened, and its deposition rate amount was not obvious compared with that of the conventional spray. When the ambient wind speed was 1 m·s-1, the spray height was 150 cm, and the deposition rate difference between electrostatic spraying and conventional spraying reached the peak. [Conclusion] By establishing the deposition model of two spraying methods, it is found that the deposition effect of electrostatic spraying is better than that of the conventional spraying. The deposition model can help to predict the droplet deposition effect of electrostatic spraying in natural wind field, so as to provide a choice for high-quality plant protection operation in the field.
