Abstract
From July 2007 to December 2008, a study to determine the availability of the middle part of the Łeba River basin (North Poland) for sea trout Salmo trutta m. trutta L. spawning grounds and spawning redds was conducted. The tributaries and the Łeba River are segmented by many dams, which partly or entirely prevent sea trout migration to spawning grounds. The limit of anadromous fish in the Łeba River is the weir at the Lębork town. In the spawning seasons of 2007 and 2008 approximately 388 and 328 sea trout redds were counted, respectively. The spawning grounds much differed in their numbers of redds, in both research seasons. The biggest number, 180 redds in one spawning season, were observed in the Okalica Stream in 2007.
