On the issue of citizens’ participation in ensuring road safety.

Abstract
The article considers modern problems of ensuring road safety in Ukraine. Particular attention is paid to the state of citizens' participation in ensuring road safety, as the realization of their rights and freedoms in the formation of civil society. At the same time attention is paid to the features of the sphere of road safety. Based on the study of the work of specialists in administrative law and other branches of law, conclusions are made on the need to study the current problems of participation of citizens and the public in the field of road safety. It is noted that the modern development of the doctrine of administrative law has created the basis for such conclusions, to depart from the traditional approaches to the participation of citizens in this area, which are mostly manifestations of administrative law of the Soviet period. The analysis of the legislative regulation of the possibilities of participation of citizens and public organizations in the protection of public order and public safety in terms of participation in ensuring road safety is carried out. onclusion is made about the unsatisfactory state of ensuring road safety, which, according to the author, can be improved by activating public participation. Examples of social activity are presented as a response to resonant road accidents that give rise to their public support, legislative regulation, scientific substantiation and proper social discussion.
