Abstract

anaesthesia.It is fully irreversable and most common form of block anaesthesia due to its nature and simplicity as well as its fast onset.According to World Health Organization nursing care is not only caring for the sick but also the promotion of health and the prevention of illness. Caring for patient after subarnachnoid anaesthesia reflects the definition since nursing care in that particular case should not only be proffessional but also prevent complications and foster health. Aim. The aim of the study was to evaluate patients' satisfaction and their view on the nursing care after subarnachnoid anaesthesia with reference to selected sociodemographic variables. Material and methods. The study was carried out among 60 patients after subarnachnoid anaesthesia in 3 surgical wards in Military Hospital and Policlinic, Independent Health Centre in Bydgoszcz. Diagnostic survey was used as a method. A questionnaire was used as a tool. The research instrument was a questionnaire prepared by the researchers. Results. All the respondents were satisfied with the nursing care provided. Most nursing activities after subarnachnoid anaesthesia involved supporting the patient in standing up, regular monitoring of vital signs and pain and sensory function control. Patients confirm that they were offered diagnostics and theraupetical support most often rather than informational feedback. Conclusions 1. Selected sociodemographic variables such as gender, place of residence and education had no significant effect on differences in patients' evaluation of the level of satisfaction with the nursing care provided after subarnachnoid anaesthesia. 3. Although there is no aparent need for the patient to lie flat after subarnachoid anaethesia , nursing personnel provides the patient with such information.
