ОСИП МАКОВЕЙ У ПОШУКАХ ЮРІЯ ФЕДЬКОВИЧА

Abstract
У статті розглянуто вагомий федьковичезнавчий пласт наукової спадщини Осипа Маковея (1867–1925) на предмет рівня психологічного заглиблення дослідника в біографічний та художній матеріал. З’ясовано, що, скрупульозно відтворивши зовнішню історію Ю. Федьковича, успішно потрактувавши його вибрані тексти, О. Маковей не до кінця збагнув суперечливі внутрішні сфери поетового життя, загалом особливості його складної творчої і людської індивідуальності. Our predecessors wrote already enough about O. Makovei as Fed’kovych’s expert. However, they mostly informed about the content of things told by the researcher, but not about the prejudgment, the problematic nature of some of his arguments, which didn’t provide the psychological interest of Makovei’s searches for Y. Fed’kovych as an individuality. That’s why our research is devoted to the clarification of this actual aspect in the scholar’s reception of the prominent Bukovynian. O. Makovei was particularly active seeker for the greatest poet of Bukovyna, and for 1900-1910 he published up to two dozen articles about Y. Fed’kovych. These studies were devoted to the microanalysis of particular works, their comparison with typologically close phenomena of Ukrainian and world literatures, to the biography of the poet, his individual events, Y. Fed’kovych’s personality and to his relationship with the contemporaries. The researcher worked «ex fontes», in 1910th he made a collective publication of the source base for researching of the poet, in 1911th he published the first fundamental and detailed poet’s biography «Life of Osyp Yurii Gordyns’kyi-Fed’kovych». But did O. Makovei find Y. Fed’kovych? He found him, but not completely. Such consequence is quite logical in view of the scale of the tasks and, it seems, some haste, and most importantly, the very principle about the most basic thing, the image of the external and internal history of the searched person. O. Makovei, however, quite simplified, schematized the living and multidimensional Y. Fed’kovych, so he did not always understand him. The reason was not so much in the inappropriateness of the aesthetic platforms, moral, ethical and public guidelines of the author and his hero, as in the indisposition (or impossibility) to «inhabit Fed’kovych’s skin» fully, i.e. to feel poet’s world as his own. At the same time, O. Makovei considered the question of Y. Fed’kovych's oeuvre objectively. He developed the tradition of hermeneutic, comparative reading of that author, and was the first, who spoke about the «secrets» of Fed’kovych’s skill. The O. Makovei’s works on the theme of Y. Fed’kovych still don’t lost their significance, they are worth re-publishing, and, therefore, actualizing.
