Packaging Principles for Hand Weaved Cloth: A Case Study on Packaging of Sidaar’s Zari (Brocade) Weaved Cloth

Abstract
This research aims to investigate Zari cloth in order to reach principles for a proper packaging. An interview was conducted with Sidaar institution’s managing director, in order to collect data about Zari cloth, existing problems and packaging principles. To complete these data another interview was conducted with the designer and producer of zari’s packaging. The Second interview consists of data about: the process of making the package, details of design, producing obstacles. Carine about the client and packaging designer/producer at the same time can lead us towards applied conclusions. The research found that since handicrafts have a vast varieties in producing technics, cultural values, usage and customers, the packaging must be unique for each of them. For instance to design a proper packaging for Zari cloth it is essential to focus on its customers, preserving its cultural values, transportation, harmony and its decorative usage.
