Particular disposal of muscular component iin prostate of nutria (Myocastor coypus, Rodentia, Myocastoridae).
Journal Title: Aquaculture, Aquarium, Conservation & Legislation - International Journal of the Bioflux Society - Year 2009, Vol 2, Issue 4
Abstract
Prostate sampled from three nutria males was processed for histological examination. It was found that, unlike terrestrial mammals, the capsula and conjunctive trabeculae not contain smooth muscle cells, so they do not participate in the evacuation of the content from gland during ejaculation. Glandular tubes from prostate of nutria present own-developed muscularis, similar to the arteries media, which allows an evacuation of secretions from each tube in part, so that evacuation of the contents of nutria prostate during ejaculation is made under a greater pressure than in terrestrial mammals. This particular mode of evacuation of prostate secretions appears to be a functional adaptation due to the fact that the nutria male performs the sexual act also in water, where conditions are totally different from those on land.

The effects on growth and survival of probiotic Bacillus spp. fed to Persian sturgeon (Acipencer persicus) larvae.
This study addressed if sturgeon larvae grew and survived better when fed a probiotic. Bacillus spp. were bioencapsulated in Daphnia magna (Straus 1820) and fed to Acipencer persicus (Borodin 1897) larvae. Baci...

Determination of chlorophyll a and total phosphorus abundance in organic manured fish ponds
An experiment was conducted for 6 weeks (between August and September 2010) with 4 treatments (T1: poultry manure, T2: cattle manure, T3: poultry and cattle manure and T4: control-no manure) assigned to 8 concrete ponds...
Serum biochemical parameters of farmed carp (Cyprinus carpio).
Despite advances in ichthyo-pathology of recent years, interpretation of fish serum biochemical parameters is often difficult by lack of reference values. That is why to know the value of the serum biochemical paramete...
Chemical composition of meat in two cyprinid species
The biochemical analyses of the meat were determined in two species of carps, respectively Cyprinus carpio and Ctenopharyngodon idella. We worked on four groups of 10 fishes each (two groups for C. carpio and two groups...
