Patronage activity of «Charitable society on universally beneficial and cheap books publishing» (1898- 1918)

Abstract
The article describes the patronage activity of «Charitable society on universally beneficial and cheap books publishing » – a book publishing organization, took place in St. Petersburg with the assistance of Ukrainian public figures. Attention is accented on the fact that this publishing centre belonged to the educational institutions, it carried out its work on the principles of charity and self-financing (by means of association fees, private donations and sales revenue of publications).
