Performance Evaluation of Stocks: A Comparative Study of PSU’s Stock Performance and Private Sector Company’s Stock Performance

Abstract

A stock Popularly known as shares or equity is a type of security that signifies proportionate ownership in the issuing organization. Shares are bought and sold predominantly on stock exchange, though there can be private sales as well, and is the foundation of nearly every portfolio. These transactions have to conform to government regulations organization like SEBI, which are meant to protect investors from fraudulent practices. In this research paper an attempt is made to analyze the investment tendency in stock of public sector companies and private sector companies. The study also consist a comparative evaluation of the stock performance of public as well as private companies. For the evaluation, last three year data of stock performance has been used. This study also finds out the factors effecting the investment in stocks and measures the performance of stocks through the some models which are used worldwide to evaluate the performance of stock through portfolio Risk Return Sharpe Measure, Treynor Measure, and jensens measure of performance. The performance review must generate and provide information that will help the investor to assess any need for rebalancing of his investments and sell and buy decision. The purpose of choosing this topic is to know how the stock portfolio evaluated and which sector stock is performing well and risk and return relationship. Dr. C. K.
