PERIODICALS AS A SOURCE IN THE STUDY OF THE POPULATION ATTITUDES TO THE AUTHORITY (ON THE EXAMPLE OF KYIV NEWSPAPERS OF 1917-1918)

Abstract
The article focuses on the problem of the relevation of periodacals for the study of public opinion of Kyiv residents of 1917-1918. The daily city newspapers "Posliednije novosta", "Kievlianin", "Kievskaja mysl'" and "Nova Rada" are the most significant example. In order to achieve as much relevance as possible, the author suggests an approach to working with newspaper sources. Different types of texts in city newspapers are analyzed. Each of these texts is a separate source, namely: information materials, reportage, personal opinion materials, works of entertainment genre and advertisement. The information potential of each of the text sources is singled out.
