PERIODONTITIS: PROGRESSION AND TREATMENT APPROACHES: A REVIEW
Journal Title: European Journal of Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences - Year 2018, Vol 5, Issue 6
Abstract
Development of nanotechnology in prescription has changed the pharmaceutical industry. It has effectively cleared numerous obstacles related with different delivery systems, for example, traditional techniques, microspheres and other microparticulate frameworks. Late advancement in nano-particulate delivery system has turned out to be effective in the restorative administration systems for dental problems. The successful treatment for periodontal infection has been restricted because of inability of previous formulations to stay in place at the site of activity, in this way diminishing the duration of activity. Advancement in knowledge of the etiology, the study of disease transmission and microbiology of periodontal pocket micro-organism has disappointed the remedial techniques for the administration of periodontal disease development. This review article outlines the current improvements in the field of intra-pocket drug delivery systems and distinguishes zones where additional research may prompt a clinically feasible intra-pocket delivery system.
