Photoelastic Analysis of the Vertebral Fixation System Using Different Screws
Journal Title: Engineering, Technology & Applied Science Research - Year 2012, Vol 2, Issue 2
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to compare using photoelasticity, the internal stresses produced by two types of pedicular screws (Synthes™) with three different diameters, when submitted to different pullout strengths. The fringe orders were evaluated around the screws using the Tardy compensation method. In all the models analyzed, the shear stress was calculated. Results showed that, independently of the applied load, the screw of smaller outer diameter had larger values of shear stress. According to the analysis realized, we observed that the place of highest stress was in the last thread, close to the head of the screws.

A Novel Structure for Vector Control of Symmetrical Six-Phase Induction Machines with Three Current Sensors
Vector control is one of the most popular multiphase induction machine drive methods due to its dynamic performance. Since all phase currents are needed in vector control drive, by increasing phase numbers, the number of...
Study of Direct Torque Controlled 3-phase SCIM with Two and Three-level Inverters using ST-DTC and FR-DTC scheme
DTC control strategy helps to obtain fast and smooth control in 3–phase induction motors. It does not depend upon the machine parameters and transformation of reference frames. Various control strategies on the Direct To...
Effect of the Improved Pall Friction Damper on the Seismic Response of Steel Frames
Energy-absorbing dampers are used to reinforce structures which are vulnerable to earthquakes. This study evaluates the performance of Improved Pall Frictional Dampers (IPFD) which is a type of Pall Frictional Damper (PF...
Buckling Stability Assessment of Plates with Various Boundary Conditions Under Normal and Shear Stresses
In the present paper, the buckling behavior of plates subjected to shear and edge compression is investigated. The effects of the thickness, slenderness ratio and plate aspect ratio are investigated numerically. Effects...
Clustering of Customers Based on Shopping Behavior and Employing Genetic Algorithms
Clustering of customers is a vital case in marketing and customer relationship management. In traditional marketing, a market seller is categorized based on general characteristics like clients’ statistical information a...
