Journal Title: Práxis Educativa - Year 2018, Vol 13, Issue 1

Abstract

This paper presents some ideas about the State and its education policies put forward by Pierre Bourdieu. With and∕or against the thought of Karl Marx and Max Weber, Emile Durkheim and Talcott Parsons, Norbert Elias and Louis Athusser, Bourdieu’s social theory built a conceptual architecture which leads to the understanding of the role of the State and the education policies in the production∕reproduction of social order.
