PLANT CELLULAR-LEVEL DEFENSE RESPONSES INDUCED BY SOIL BACTERIA
Journal Title: Romanian Journal of Biology - Plant Biology - Year 2018, Vol 63, Issue 1
Abstract
In their interaction with microbiota plants have evolved numerous defense reactions, many of them consisting in structural defense responses. In this study, induction of structural defense mechanisms in cucumber (Cucumis sativus L, Wisconsin SMR58 cultivar) treated with bacteria and fungi was investigated. Cucumber plants treated with phytopathogen Pythium debaryanum Hesse and bacterial strain Pseudomonas sp. P18 were analyzed for structural defense response activation. The results revealed significant plant cellular modifications induced by the treatment applied.
