Abstract
Mawlana Amin Ahsan Islahi brings histrionically points of discussion. According to him, infact, juristic controversies started raising their heads soon after the demise of Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلمand raged in the caliphate of Hadrat Ali, the earliest examples having been furnished by the Khawarij. Righteous caliphs, Madinah and Kufa become the two famous seats of learning and the rallying centres of Muslim scholars. Then followed the Hanafi, maliki, Shafi‟I, and Hanbali schools during Umayyad and Abbasid periods.
